6th Grade Artist Research Projects

6th Grade students just completed a fun Artist Research project! This project was split into two separate projects: research done in class and a supplementary assignment done at home inspired by their artist!

A variety of artists were available for students to randomly draw out of a hat. Each student had to read about their artist and record facts about his or her life, art, and legacy. From the information, students created a Facebook-styled "ArtBook" page for their artist.

For their supplementary assignment students were able to choose from a variety of different projects that were inspired by their artist. From role playing or creating an artist puppet and acting like their artist to creating a reproduction of a painting, students had a variety options to choose from. Students had a great time sharing their projects and teaching each other what they learned.

Students enjoyed reproducing art in different ways.
Wearable Art:
-A splatter painted sweatshirt inspired by Jackson Pollock.
-A recreated Picasso painting on a t-shirt.

Edible Art:
-A Warhol printed Mickey Mouse on a cake.
-Monet inspired water lily cupcakes.

Recreated Art:
-Starry Night done in Microsoft Word.
-The Mona Lisa created on a Pixie Program.
-An illustrated pencil drawing of a Michelangelo painting.
-A dot filled Seurat painting.

We also had one student present his project as Marc Chagall! What a treat!

Here are some pictures of our projects:
