3rd Grade Fruit Still Life

3rd Graders did a fantastic job on their first project that focused on observational drawings. Students created observational drawings of different fruits. After painting the fruit with watercolors, students created a construction paper background. They focused on designing a wallpaper background- making the patterns with wonderful construction paper crayons!

Check out their excellent work:

Wonderful job!

3rd Grade Surrealist Birdies

3rd graders loved learning about the wacky art and artists of the Surrealist art movement. For a fun project students created birds with long legs, similar to Dali's elephant paintings. We used watercolor paints and markers in this bright and colorful project!

8th Grade Still Life Self Portraits

For their final project of the year, 8th grade students created self portraits with a twist! Instead of creating a self portrait of their likenesses, students created a painting of items that represent their interests and personalities similar to a still life painting.

These are great representations of the 8th grade graduating class! Check out a few of the paintings:

6th Grade Personality Portraits

For their final project, 6th grade students learned about silhouettes and portraiture. We discussed different personality traits and interests that we all have. We talked about how although we may like different things or look different ways, we are all unique and special.

Portraits were created in a silhouette form. Students filled in their silhouettes with different interests or words describing their personalities. Using a watercolor crayon resist, these portraits came out colorful and bold!

4th Grade Starry Night Group Work

The 4th grade class worked together in groups on for their final project of the year. Inspired by a Van Gogh poster in the classroom students recreated the Starry Night in groups of 4. Together each member of their group drew one section of The Starry Night. Using teamwork students also discussed the processes of adding paint and oil pastel to each of their sections for uniformity.

Check out these beautiful works of art:

Kindergarten Number Painting

1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8 & 9! Kindergartners created art work inspired by Jasper Johns. They focused on the correct way to write their numbers! We used oil pastels and liquid watercolor in this colorful project!

Art Club Happenings: Paper Bag Puppets

Art Club's 4th and 5th grade group became puppeteers as they designed and created their own paper bag puppets. Students worked with materials such as pipe cleaners, markers, recycled paper, and foam shapes to decorate their puppets. Students really loved playing with the puppets afterwards!

Art Club Happenings: Ugly Dolls

The 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Art Club practiced their sewing skills when they created Ugly Doll inspired felt animal creatures. These creatures were made with felt, fabric markers, a needle, and thread. Students enjoyed the process as much as they liked the funny creations by their peers!

Check out the fun and silly creations:

7th Grade Candy Pop Paintings

7th graders had a sweet time with their latest painting project! Students learned about Pop Art and discussed well known products that were considered a part of our popular culture.

For our project, students chose a candy and created their own Pop Art painting of the product! They were able to change colors and crop their images to create an interesting and unique composition.

Check out some of their sweet treats!

Kindergarten Peace Doves

The Kindergarten learned about Pablo Picasso in a project completed towards the beginning of the year relating to the International Day of Peace. During this project students also learned about how doves can be symbols of peace.

For our project students created a watercolor crayon resist for their backgrounds. Students created their doves while reinforcing tracing and cutting skills.

Check out their great art:
