Our Community Mural

In our first project of the school year we created a Community Mural.

Our school is a community and we work together, share, and respect one another in our school community. For our project we created self portraits using abstract colors. Each grade level used two different colors (Pre-K and K used red and orange, etc.). For inspiration with our self portraits we studied the artworks of Pop Artist, Andy Warhol, and contemporary artist, Romero Britto. We also included pattern in our portraits! We used crayon and watercolors in our artwork- which created a watercolor crayon resist!

Our mural is hanging in the hallway across from the office!

Can you find your self portrait? Next time you are in the office hallway take a good look!

Welcome!

Welcome to Miss M's Art Room blog!

I will be using this blog as a tool to post information about current art lessons, showcase student artwork, link cool art websites and games, and highlight art happenings in and outside of the art room!

The top bar has links that go to different pages on the blog:
-You can see information on each grade's art project if you click onto the Current Lessons page.
-To see some examples of student work, check out the Student Art Work page!
-Information about Art Club (projects, themes, etc.) can be seen on the Art Club page link.
-To meet some of the creatures lurking around the art room, head to the Creatures of the Classroom page!

There are also a set of links under under the blog archive on the side bar. The links are all safe, kid friendly websites that feature artists, games, and art making websites! Check them out too!
