1st Grade Pointillism Snowmen

Students dove into the world of Pointillism in a fun, dot-filled painting project! Pointillism features paintings composed of tons of tiny dots of paint. First graders created their very own happy snowmen inspired by the movement!

These were hung next to the 2nd grader's Snowy Silhouettes to create a wonderful winter display!

Amazing job, 1st grade!

2nd Grade Snowy Night Collage

In a project that mixed Vincent Van Gogh's Starry Night and our current winter season, 2nd graders created snowy nighttime silhouettes!

We created collage scenes using different layers of paper. We even created swirling night skies using paint, watercolor, and salt! The second grade worked really hard on their silhouettes! They were all so unique!

Great job, 2nd grade!

Pre-K Shape Monsters

The Pre-K artists reinforced their knowledge of shapes, colors, and cutting skills by creating their own shapes monsters. We used construction paper, markers, and foam shapes! Students did a fantastic job cutting, pasting, and creating these silly monsters!

Here is some of our wacky monsters!

Wonderful job Pre-K!

Art Club: Chinese New Year Dragons

For this session of Art Club, students are 'traveling the world' to learn about fun and beautiful art from around the globe!

Students, from grades 3-5, 'flew' to China to celebrate the Chinese New Year! We listened to Chinese music, ate fortune cookies, and created our own dragon puppets! The dragon template can be found at Crayola's website!

Here are a few of our creations!

Nice job Art Club!

Kindergarten Pattern Heart Art

I hope that everyone is enjoying their relaxing mid-winter break! Valentine's Day was in full blast at SJV last week and the kindergarten class created beautiful patterned heart-art for their Valentines!

In this project we focused on patterns and creating a watercolor crayon resist on our hearts. For a little added pzazz we added gold details using a paint pen!

Wonderful job Kindergarten!
