2nd Grade Oil Pastel Study

Second graders were introduced to oil pastels in a recent art class. They loved how the pastels had bright, vivid colors and were like a soft crayon! In this lesson students learned about different oil pastel techniques such as blending. We also studied colorful and bright art by Wassily Kandinsky.

Inspired by Wassily Kandinsky's famous circle art, each student created their own oil pastel circle on a 6"x 6" square. The squares were hung in a grid pattern in the hallway!
