PreK Flower Collage

To welcome in Spring (hopefully soon) students in PreK studied flowers. After reading "The Tiny Seed" by Eric Carle and identifying the different parts of a flower, students created their own still life collage using paint, paper, markers, crayons, and glitter!

For our flowers, PreK students magically mixed two of our primary colors (red & blue) to make our own purple paint! We used sponge shapes to create our flowers!

Students also decorated their vases using crayons to create various patterns. Check out these beautiful still life collages:

Pre-K Mixed Media Flowers

PreK students loved mixing colors this year in art! It was messy, fun, and exciting! We created purple using red and blue! 

For spring, we created a mixed media flower collage. We used paint, markers, paper, crayons, and glitter to make our art.

Pre-K Shape Monsters

The Pre-K artists reinforced their knowledge of shapes, colors, and cutting skills by creating their own shapes monsters. We used construction paper, markers, and foam shapes! Students did a fantastic job cutting, pasting, and creating these silly monsters!

Pre-K Picasso Inspired Collage

Pre-K students learned about Pablo Picasso and Cubism.

Picasso loved creating art using shapes. He loved to draw, paint, and create collages. A collage is an artwork made up of different materials. We used construction paper and recycled wallpaper!

In a connection to music, we studied a painting by Picasso titled The Three Musicians. This painting contains tons of shapes and colors to make up a picture of three people playing different instruments!

PreK musicians were hung in sets of three, like Picasso's artwork. Each band was made up of one clarinet, one drum, and one guitar! These were so much fun to create!

Pre-K Christmas Trees

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! The new year is around the corner (as well as all of our snow)! Enjoy the rest of the vacation and I'll see you next week!

In PreK art we mixed blue and yellow to create green paint! We created our own Christmas trees, decorating them with gold metallic paint!

PreK: The Silly Pumpkin Patch

PreK created silly pumpkin faces just in time for Halloween! 

We mixed two primary colors, red and yellow paint, to make orange color of our pumpkins! 

We practiced cutting out all of the parts of our Jack-O-Lanterns! We loved making silly faces!
