6th Grade Wire & Pantyhose Sculptures

6th Graders recently learned about different types of sculptures and the creation process of creating a "Sculpture in the Round". Surrounded entirely by space, a viewer has the ability to see all sides of a sculpture in the round by walking around it. 

Students created their own sculptures using wire hangers, pantyhose, wood blocks, glue, and paint! Check out some of their amazing sculptures!

Art Club Paintings

These beautiful paintings were done in June by current 7th graders from Art Club. Students were inspired by abstract trees and sunsets!

6th Grade Wild Beast- Fauvism Paintings

Fauvism is a fun and exciting art movement. Fauve paintings are bright an bold. The word fauve means 'wild beast' in French. The term was given to this movement because the paintings look like they were created by wild beasts!

The 6th graders studied Fauvism for their most recent project. Inspired by the definition of the movement and the playful imagery, students created animal paintings using bright colors.

7th Grade Abstract Expressionist Sculptures

In this unit, students learned about different Abstract Expressionist artists such as Jackson Pollock and Mark Rothko. They first began painting different types of papers using abstract tools (no paintbrushes... instead they used toothbrushes, sticks, straws, sponges, etc.). Students were able to create beautiful and colorful abstract paintings!

After painting, students learned about artist Frank Stella, who creates 3D sculptural reliefs which are abstract and contain various lines, shapes, and movement. Taking their abstract paintings, students cut out various shapes and assembled them together to create their own sculptures!

These came out so colorful and fun!
