Kindergarten Wayne Thiebaud Gumball Machines

Kindergarteners learned about the yummy art of Wayne Thiebaud. They loved viewing and discussing his paintings of cakes, ice cream, lollipops, and gumball machines!

Students enthusiastically created these 3D gumball machines in Art! The gumballs are actually pom poms! Check them out:

5th Grade Scream Paintings

Earlier this year students in the 5th grade learned about Edvard Munch and his famous image, The Scream!

In this lesson students discussed the different reasons people might feel the need to scream, whether it be in fear, surprise, or even joy!

Their task was to create their own image of the famous Scream, with themselves as the subject. Infused in this reproduction, students were to include visuals of why they might scream.

Scream-tacular art, 5th grade!

Tie Dye Art Club

This past two weeks in Art Club students worked on creating their own Tie Dye t-shirts! Students were able to twist, band, and dye their t-shirts in different ways to create colorful and groovy shirts!

For many students this was their first experience tie dying! They did a fantastic job! Check out these pictures of the creation process:

6th Grade Wire & Pantyhose Sculptures

6th Graders recently learned about different types of sculptures and the creation process of creating a "Sculpture in the Round". Surrounded entirely by space, a viewer has the ability to see all sides of a sculpture in the round by walking around it. 

Students created their own sculptures using wire hangers, pantyhose, wood blocks, glue, and paint! Check out some of their amazing sculptures!

8th Grade Ceramic Projects

8th graders were introduced to the art of Ceramics recently in art.

Students learned about various ceramic techniques. They each constructed a unique ceramic sculpture using the 'pinch pot technique'. Here are some of their amazing 3D products!

7th Grade Paper Mache Oaxacan Animals

Earlier this year the 7th grade learned about Oaxacan Animal Sculptures.

Produced in Southern Mexico, these animal sculptures are created using carved, sanded, and painted wood. Usually the process is done by different family members! These animal sculptures are painted bright colors with different patterns. They are very eye-catching and fun!

7th graders were inspired by this art form and created their own animal sculptures using paper mache, paint, and an assortment of materials including feathers and googly eyes! Students were able to create a figure of an animal found in nature or a fantasy creature of their own!

2nd Grade Oil Pastel Kandinsky Circles

Students in the 2nd grade recently explored the world of Oil Pastels and Wassily Kandinsky. After studying some of his paintings, students loved his use of bright colors and shapes! Here is a painting by Kandinsky that inspired us!

2nd Graders also loved working with oil pastels! They enjoyed getting messy with this art material!

1st Grade Elmer the Elephant Collage

  

First Grade students read the book "Elmer the Elephant". It's a great story about a patchwork elephant who lives in a colorful jungle. Students created watercolor collages using warm colors or cool colors to give Elmer a day or night time scene!
